Grande Oaks Golf Club is a Private 18 holes golf course located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
The course first opened for play in 1956 with nine holes, and was named Rolling Hills Country Club. The course was designed by William F Mitchell. A second nine was added, designed by Bill Dietsch.
The course became a landmark when it was used as the location for the successful comedy movie, "Caddyshack" filmed between 1979-1980.
It wasn't until 1999, when the Club was purchased by entrepreneur and avid golfer Wayne Huizenga, that Grande Oaks was born.
Huizenga hired Raymond Floyd to fully redesign the course in 1999. Floyd redesigned the course again in 2014.
Built on 190 acres of the original 360-acre property, Grande Oaks Golf Club retains much of the charm inherited from Rolling Hills, including a grove of old-growth oaks
The club has an eighteen hole regulation course and a thirty-five acre practice facility that includes four practice holes. This practice facility was formerly a nine hole, executive course.
The Grande Oaks Course was built on rolling terrain and has fairways lined with mature Spanish Oaks and Australian Pine trees. Water hazards come into play on a few holes.
Par for the course is 71. From the back tees, the course plays to 6,752 yards. From the forward tees, the course measures 4,755 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 15, a par-5 that plays to 530 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 11, a par-3 that plays to 143 yards from the back tees.

This is a beautiful golf course, challenging but not overly difficult. Hole number 9 is the #1 handicap hole and worthy of it's designation offering a 190 yard carry to clear a lake directly in front of the tee box. Fairways are lined with large mature oaks and you find no tropical vegetation on this layout, very unusual for a Florida golf course. The movie "Caddyshack" was filmed on this course. Tees and fairways are in very good to excellent condition but the greens are not up to par for this price range private club. Extensive renovations are planned for the summer of 2014.
